Towards a Unified View of Microscopic Traffic Flow Theories

چکیده
Modeling and simulation of traac has a long tradition. A vast number of diierent approaches have been used to simulate traac, each of which has been calibrated and validated separately. This work aims at the way diierent models are interrelated. It is shown how one can, starting from very general modeling assumptions , construct a family of car following models that contains models closely related to well{known simulation models as special cases. Investigating this model family it can be shown, which models are qualitatively equivalent and which are not. This gives important hints as to which model approaches can in principle be uniied.

Developing a Model of Heterogeneity in Driver’s Behavior
Intelligent Driver Model (IDM) is a well-known microscopic model of traffic flow within the traffic engineering societies. While it is a powerful technique for modeling traffic flows, the Intelligent Driver Model lacks the potential of accommodating the notion of drivers’ heterogeneous behavior whenever they are on roads. Concerning the above mentioned, this paper takes the lane to recognize th...
متن کاملRevised Chapter 5
There have been two kinds of traffic flow theories presented thus far in this monograph. Chapter 2 discussed the relations among aggregated quantities of flow rate, concentration and mean speeds for stationary vehicular traffic (these relations are also referred to as the equations of state in traffic flow), and Chapter 3 described the dynamic evolution of microscopic quantities of vehicle spac...
متن کاملIdentifying and Analyzing Stop and Go Traffic based on Asymmetric Theory of Driving Behavior in Acceleration and Deceleration
Stop and go traffic that leads to oscillate traffic flow frequently is observed on congestion flow. Unexpected reasons such as lane – changing maneuvers, lower speeds of leader vehicle and moving bottleneck cause stop and go traffic and amplifying delay and environment impacts. Stop and go traffic exactly can’t be modeled by traffic models, and also car following models based on kinematic flow ...
متن کاملTesting and Benchmarking of Microscopic Traffic Flow Simulation Models
Microscopic simulation models are becoming increasingly important tools in modelling transport systems. There are a large number of available models used in many countries. The important difficult stage in the development and use of such models is the calibration and validation of the microscopic sub-models describing the traffic flow, such as the car following models for example. The aim of th...
متن کاملTowards Benchmarking Microscopic Traffic Flow Models
For the simulation of traffic flows various macroscopic and microscopic models exist. Developing these models it is important to check the models against reality, whereas there are well-established means how to do this for macroscopic fluid-dynamical models. For microscopic models this work has yet to be done. This article is intended as a first step towards a common benchmarking of those model...
